I Would Have Gotten Away With It If It Weren't For Those Meddling Casquette Girls
Every once in a while, I’ll read a young adult book that I really love. Let me say - I love YA books because they are easy to read. It’s simple with a lot of imagery, and the story really plays into that fantastical part of my brain that I still want to believe is real.
I fell into The Casquette Girls from Alys Arden by chance. Being a Prime member, you get a lot of half perks. I call them half perks because you still have to pay for them! I mean, damn, Amazon, must everything be a monthly subscription?! I digress. If you have Prime, you are able to borrow available Kindle books for free, for as long as you want. It’s like Amazon Library. To be honest, it might even be called Amazon Library, but I’ll never know, because I’m not opening up another tab right now. As I was down one of my many Amazon wormholes (see why I can’t open up another tab?), and I found the service. My first choice was the Thug Kitchen cookbook (I am so surprised it is still a thing!). I soon came across The Casquette Girls and was intrigued by the name.
The book follows a New Orleans teen coming home after a huge hurricane, and finds that her city is nothing like it ever was before.
